Up-to-date Information about Visas to Mozambique
Essential travel requirements, exemptions, and application procedures for international travelers entering the Republic of Mozambique.
SADC & Exempt Nationals
Citizens from 29 countries including - Portugal, the USA, UK, Canada, Brazil, China, and much of the EU - are exempt from traditional visas for stays up to 30 days.
If your country is not on the exempt list, you have two primary options for short stays:
- e-Visa: Apply online at the Official e-Visa Portal. You will receive a pre-approval notification to present at the border.
- Visa on Arrival (Border Visa): Available at major airports (Maputo, Vilanculos, Beira) and several land borders for tourism. This typically costs $50 USD and allows a 30-day stay, extendable once.
SADC Exempt (30 Days)
Exempt List
Pre-registration (ETA) Notice
Visa Exempt Nationals must still pre-register (ETA) on www.evisa.gov.mz at least 48 hours before arrival to avoid back-and-forth delays. While currently partially suspended, the system is functional and highly recommended to avoid arrival delays.
